The Embassy of Latvia will host an exhibit: "Paintings by Agija Audere." PLACE: 2304 Massachusetts Ave, NW Washington, DC 20008 DATES and TIMES: November 13-29, 2009 Open Monday through Friday from 10.00 am–5.00 pm Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm (Closed on Thanksgiving Day - November 26th) In this exhibition the highlight is the format, subject matter and palette of the artist's works. The improvisational patterns of bright primary colours on canvas assemble into a colour code that is unique to this artist – recognisably and characteristically her own. The impressionistic manner of painting, fauvist shaping of the images and the works’ narratives all combine to create the visual image of the paintings, modernist in form and warm-hearted in its emotional essence.
